Edwardsville IL Homes for Sale and Real Estate : And That's Why I Always Try to Answer My Phone When It Rings...

And That's Why I Always Try to Answer My Phone When It Rings...

I hate to miss the phone when it rings. It's my lifeline to clients, family and friends. And I take it with me everywhere. (It beds down on its charger when I bed down for the night and we meet up again first thing in the morning.)

Yesterday I was with buyers when my phone rang. We were looking at a house and discussing an important point about the buying process at the time.

I try to always give my full attention to my client during our appointments, so even though it bothers me, I let the phone call go through to voice mail.

When we were done with the showing and I was headed back to the office, I checked for messages.  Here was the call I missed:

"Hi. My wife and I are moving to your area. We're relocating. And, uh, we'd like to talk with you about looking at houses. We need to be in something before school starts this fall so please call me back.  My number is..."

AND THEN HIS CALL DROPPED!

AS HUMORIST DAVE BARRY MIGHT SAY, I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP!

Unfortunately, his call came through as Private Caller so I couldn't even backtrack to get his phone number and return the call.

Now there's a poor guy who reached out for help and thinks I just didn't care enough to call him back.

I would love to have my cell phone automatically transferred to my home phone when I walk in the door... this way ALWAYS answering would be so much easier!

By any chance did you try replaying the message a couple of times... sometimes I replay it and the entire message is actually there...

Ahh, that's a shame. sometimes, though, callers who block their numbers have to realize that it creates problems.

Hey, Liz -- yes, I sure did try it a few times. It was just g-o-n-e, sadly.  I just need to have a phone chip implanted in my head, I guess.  Have a great night!

Liz L -- That's a good point about blocked numbers. Let's re-think this....yep, it's his fault!

Hi, Nancy -- that is one of the things that will drive you crazy.  The same thing has happened to me with some garbled messages.  If there is any justice, he will call you back.  I hope so!  Have a good weekend, Eric

Too bad!  Though I still think you did the right thing by paying attention to the customers right there in front of you...

I hate it when that happens.  I hope he calls back soon so you both have a chance to get together. It's not your fault so don't beat yourself up over it.

I live with my phone, also. It never fails...the really important calls come when you are on the phone with someone else or taking a shower.
